Post Season

As our season has come to an end, I'd like to reflect on the great things we've experienced this past year. The 2013 Plattsburgh softball team had many new faces at the beginning with a freshman class of 7. After the fall semester these freshman had adapted well to their new environment. Watching the team grow from the first practice of the fall season to the last game this past weekend has been a great honor. This team is filled with young women who truly love this sport and this team. Unfortunately every season has to come to an end at some point. This group has shown a lot of hard work and determination to get as far as they did. The best softball they have played all year was shown this past weekend in our conference tournament. The team went out giving all they had leaving nothing to be regretted. Our coaching staff is very proud of these young women and are looking forward to starting back up in the fall of 2013. Thank you for following our team and giving us your support! Go Cards!!!!

Season Opener

After a long weekend in Geneseo, Plattsburgh softball finished 2-2. Starting off strong on Friday with 2 wins against Geneseo, then losing 2 on Saturday to Brockport. Both days of games were played in Geneseo due to field conditions at Brockport. Throughout the weekend there were multiple games where Plattsburgh had to come back from being down several runs to win or tie the game. The team showed tremendous fight in every game until the end. Our coaching staff is very proud of the strength the team showed over the weekend and look forward to seeing more through the rest of the season. Tomorrow (4/2/13), Plattsburgh will be playing a double header away against RPI. Game time is set to start at 3:30pm. This game will be followed by 2 double headers away this weekend in Oneonta and New Paltz on Friday and Saturday (4/5/13 & 4/6/13).

Preseason Games

Tomorrow we will be leaving Plattsburgh and heading to the much warmer Clermont, Florida. This will be are 5th trip, in a row, down for the NTC Spring Games Tournament. This year we will be playing some tough competition, including 3 teams we played in post season last year (Keene State, Amherst College, and Tufts University). Our athletes have been putting in lots of time and hard work to prepare for this season. The coaching staff has faith in their abilities and the determination they have showed so far has been outstanding. Win or lose, at the end of the day we are proud of what this team has accomplished and know there are still great things to come. Comparing our team from where we started in the beginning of the fall to now, these young women, have grown to be better athletes and even better people. There is no doubt that the Plattsburgh State Softball team will enjoy much success in this upcoming season. If you are interested in staying up to date with our progress in Florida the final scores will be posted on our web page under the schedule tab. Wish us luck as we make our way to Florida and we hope to see you all at our regular season home games. Our first home game will be on Friday, April 12 against Oswego State.
